TAVERNERS will hope to halt an alarming losing streak when they travel to local rivals King's Stanley on Saturday (2pm).
Dale Russell's side fell to a 3-1 defeat at Roman Glass last Saturday. Despite a good first half showing Tavs slipped to a third successive league defeat.
Earlier, the game started brightly for the Nailsworth side. Steve Jackson nodded wide from a Lee Pritchard cross and Mark Harsant fired over from close. Pritchard then forced a stunning block from the home keeper.
However, against the run of play Roman Glass nosed ahead.None the less Tavs were soon level. Kris Pritlove did well to steer a shot beyond the keeper with Jackson pouncing to ensure the ball crossed the line.
The second half was a different story as Glass dominated and within two minutes were back in front.Weak defending on the edge of the box allowed a cross to be turned in at the far post.
It became a uphill struggle for Tavs but they still had the chances to draw level with Jackson unlucky to see his effort blocked on the line by a defender. A great Pritchard cross then went begging when three Tavs players failed to administer the touch required.
The game was effectively sealed with 20 minutes to go. Former Cheltenham Town keeper Ryan Gannaway saw his kick fall at the feet of Pearce who made no mistake from the edge of the box.
