County League Sea Mills Park 2 King's Stanley 6
TALK of Hellenic League football may yet prove to be a touch premature, but Steve Doughty's high-flying King's Stanley side are certainly making a good fist of it.
After smashing seven past Wotton Rovers last week, Stanley hit Sea Mills for six on Saturday.
Earlier, Stanley fell behind, however, Scott Cumberlin powerfully headed home a Matt Casey corner to fine parity for the Bluebells. Cumberlin was again on target when he forced an error in the home defence and thumped the loose ball home.
Against the run of play, the home side stunned the Bluebells with an equaliser early in the second period and it looked as though they were in for tough afternoon.
The Bluebells response was swift and decisive. Within two minutes Nick Rieger side-footed the ball home following a sweeping move from the half- way line.
Hat-trick
Cumberlin completed his hat- trick with another powerfully struck shot to put Stanley firmly in the driving seat. Further goals saw Rieger net his second and Adam Smith completed the rout to push the Bluebells up into third-place in the league table.
