STROUD power rock band Driving Force come to the Subscription Rooms this weekend with a number of special guests, including guitar god Jimi Hendrix's first amp from 1966, which band leader Rich Dickinson brought in the 1970s for £65.
The other special guests will be local bands who entered a competition held on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
The overall winner of the competition will get an opportunity to play on the amp, now valued at around £1 million.
Originally placed on eBay to raise a bit of cash, having been kept in a wardrobe for years, the amp attracted huge interest and numerous request for authentication.
Marshall, which made the amp, verified that it was the amp Hendrix used when he broke America and, given the very hefty rise in value, it was withdrawn from sale.
The amplifier has been on display in London, and the Stroud concert is the only time it will be used in concert in the UK.
Driving Force play all over the UK, and have just signed to the New York record label Orchard, which released Piece of My Heart at the end of June.
Rich Dickinson has been gigging since the late 1970s and has toured the UK and Europe with his previous trio Kaos, with whom he spent ten years.
He is also a sought-after session musician who has supplied incidental guitar for the televised shows from Glastonbury Festival.
Driving Force will be playing Hendrix covers as well as their own original power rock numbers at the Stroud Subscription Rooms on Saturday, October 29 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and are available from the box office.
