EARTHFALL, the astonishing contemporary, multimedia dance troupe, return to Stroud's Subscription Rooms this weekend with their production of At Swim Two Boys, presented in association with Prema Arts Centre.

Earthfall's interpretation of At Swim Two Boys, the award-winning novel by Irish writer Jamie O' Neill, is evocative and moving.

Set in Ireland in 1916, the work juxtaposes the developing love affair between two teenage boys with political turmoil in Ireland and slaughter on the Western Front - contrasting the search for personal freedom and national liberation.

Staged in a slowly filling lake in front of a slow-falling waterfall, the performance reflects back an incredible emotional power.

Incorporating both live and archive film footage, live music, dance, and text, this is dance theatre at its best. It promises to be a spectacular visual experience, with one of the most ambitious sets yet staged at the Subscription Rooms.

"It really is something special to see performers on stage moving through, in and on water - almost a 21st century version of Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain, but much more emotionally loaded," said the Subscription Rooms' Baibre McAteer.

At Swim Two Boys premiered in Cardiff in 2004 for two performances only. In Spring 2005 the show toured Wales, England and Ireland to sell-out audiences, and widespread critical acclaim.

The Stroud performance takes place on Friday, October 14 at 8pm.

Tickets are £10 or £8 concessions and can be purchased from the Subscription Rooms box office or from the box office at Prema in Uley.
