NICK TRAINOR is a happy man after the Frocester captain saw his three-year goal come to fruition.

The former Gloucestershire and Durham ace was in ebullient mood after clubbing his fourth century of the season in an emphatic defeat of Taunton Dean on Saturday that enabled the Pounds Close side to take their place in Premier One next season. Trainor was supported by Paul Lazenbury who carried his bat for 77.

He said: "When I took the job it was my goal to reach the top level by 2005 and now that we have achieved this I'm over the moon."

Trainor pin-pointed a strong work ethic coupled with the signings of Paul Lazenbury, Jamie Rendell, Steve Pope, Ali and Nathan Bressington. "These five made a huge difference, but it has been a team effort."

Earlier, Trainor won the toss and with five points required for promotion, chose the sensible route of inserting the opposition.

Taunton made a bright start with Hudd (48) and Warren (36) taking the total to 80 in the 22nd over. However, the introduction of the spin of Jamie Rendell (5-46) and Trainor(1-19) brought instant reward as both openers were dismissed with the assistance of some excellent glovework from Steve Pope.

Alastair Downey held two catches in the deep and Pope snaffled another victim as the visitors collapsed to 180 all out.Ali Bressington finished with (2-17) and Ben Gannon (2-77) .
