THE CHALFORD Feast, that paragon of community-minded hair-letting-down, is being held this weekend.

"The Chalford Vale community would like to invite everyone in the area to come and enjoy the fun and festivities of the Chalford Feast," said organiser Dave Andrews.

"The Chalford Feast caters for the whole family and this year is set to be more fun than ever."

The Feast starts at 2pm with a traditional village procession from the New Red Lion car park to Chalford playing field.

Throughout the day there will be activities and entertainment for children and a variety of stalls.

As the evening draws in the Feast takes on a whole new character, with the lighting of a communal fire as well as spectacular fire entertainment and juggling.

This year the Feast will have two stages, the main stage and the Hub Collective acoustic stage featuring a wide variety of local performers.

The main stage will be host to no less than eight local bands, including: teen sensations SubJustice, The Dream Poets, the ubiquitous Ska Daddy and the debut performance by The Jaam - Stroud's very own Jam tribute band. More bands have yet to be confirmed.

As the name of the event suggests, food is an important part of the day's festivities with three main eateries and a bar provided by the New Red Lion.

The Chalford Feast takes place on Saturday, September 3 from 2pm until late. Entrance is £3 for adults and free for children.
