AFTER two years of work, thousands of hours of tweaking and a little help from a Chilean saxophonist, a Stroud DJ has finally released his magnum opus.

Summer Street DJ Giles Wood has just completed his first full-length album A New Way 4ward, released at the beginning of this month.

The lovingly-constructed platter of 19 blissed-out beats was put together in Giles' own home and features a motley crew of local artists, including vocalist Mia and guitarist Matt Weston from Phaser and well-known vocalist Katerina Heinrich.

"I came back from studying in London two years ago and decided to write some new tracks," he said.

"I grew up here and I find it is the best place for me to make music. London is too busy.

"It took two years and was a lot of work. And after spending hours on end staring at this screen and just tweaking it I am pretty pleased with it."

Among the artists he used was Chilean saxophonist and kino player Gerado, who contributed to three of the tracks on the album, including last track Cows, one of Giles' own highlights.

"It was interesting working with lots of different people," he said. "The music worked differently in every situation and every time we got a different process."

A New Way 4ward is available from Trading Post in Stroud now, priced £13.
