Nationwide Conference Forest Green Rovers 1 Farnborough 1
A NEW manager often brings a waft of fresh optimism and Forest Green Rovers breathed in a large gulp of new-life as Alan Lewer lead the Conference's bottom club to their first point of the season.
Farnborough had edged ahead through Lloyd Blackman. But the hosts, who had lost all their previous seven matches, hit back before the interval when Charlie Griffin levelled.
Ironically, Farnborough are the only side to have taken a point off the leaders, Barnet, but they became the first side to fail to beat Rovers this season.
Showing fresh resolve Rovers battled on and keeper Steve Perrin played an equally crucial role in winning a deserved point for a rejuvenated Rovers.
For Lewer It had been a busy week with the new man working his proverbial socks off to enliven a previously fragile side
Lewer, to his credit galvanised a flagging Rovers side to what will be hoped a prelude to better times.
