SHIPTON MOYNE based Louisa Brassey, 19, won the major International UAE. Equestrian and Racing Federation CIC** at Gatcombe Horse Trials last weekend.
Louisa, riding Barry Wookey's promising Plantagenet of Rushall - was one of only two riders to finish on their dressage score out of a 92 strong field.
Darrell Scaife and Ben Auk took second, Daisy Dick and Springbok IV third, Matt Ryan and Royal Dragoon fourth and young rider Amy Young fifth with Highville, only eight points separating them. Amy also won Novice C on Whitewell Tribunal.
Olympic Gold Medallist Leslie Law who has been on a roll since Athens, withdrew his two CIC runners, after a heavy fall on Saturday when Diamond Hall Alice fell when in the lead in the novice, luckily he suffered only bruising. He had previously finished eighth on Best of Spirits in Novice A.
Meanwhile, Cindy Rawson won Open Intermediate K on Ashdale David's Way from Murphy's Time, Claire Brazil took second with Matt Ryan and Swang Ryan in third.
Adrian Little and Silent Running won Intermediate I from Niall Ferguson and Samielson in second and
Louisa Lockwood on Lucia De Lammemoor in third.
Erica Watson from Snowshill, was over the moon with her horses, Modern Jazz who won Intermediate J who was superb with Jonathan Chapman and Norfolk in second and Dan Jocelyn (NZ) and Maratai in third only two points separating them, and Brannigan III, who won Novice G.
Zara Phillips won the Military Novice F in style riding The Princess Royal's Blue Plaid by a point from Catherine Pritchard and Value for Money, and Capt. Waygood, Riding Master for The Household Cavalry in third on Errant Flight. He also rode The Queen's Peter Pan II into fourth in Intermediate I.
The Princess Royal returned to the saddle to ride Blue Plaid into third place. Zara enjoyed a good weekend riding Secret Legacy into tenth in the Novice and rode well to complete the CIC on her up and coming Ardfield Magic Star.
Top riders in the main won the novice sections - with Clayton Fredericks taking A on the 'high powered' Vandieiam.
Owen Moore and the ex-racehorse Fletch won their first Novice C. Andrew Nicholson (NZ) took Novice E on Armada with a l9.5 dressage score and 25- year-old Simon Vacher was delighted to win his first Novice B on Ballyronan.
The new sponsors The United Arab Emirates Equestrian & Racing Federation enjoyed their first year of sponsorship and presented Her Royal Highness and Rear Admiral Lawrence with two specially made shepherd's crooks.
