Powergen Junior Vase Painswick 47 Ross 3
PAINSWICK eased into the second round of the Powergen Junior Vase with a stop-start performance against Ross on Saturday.
Although scoring seven tries Painswick will feel a little disappointed not to have scored several more with the amount of possession they won.
The visitors scored first with a penalty but Painswick hooker Tom Russell responded immediately with a try in the corner after good interplay between forwards and backs.
Minutes later Ali Bressington scored Painswick's second with his customary break from the halfway line, he converted both to leave Painswick 14-3 in front midway through the half.
More pressure from Painswick's forwards resulted in a try from flanker James Reed, Matt Coombs increased Painswick's lead further when he crashed over in the corner, Bressington added one conversion to leave them leading 26-3 at the interval.
In the second half Painswick scored a further three tries through centre Ollie Clewes, number eight Greg Beard and Bressington who also converted all three.
This weekend sees Painswick returning to league action when they entertain Chosen Hill in Glos Premier, kick-off 3pm at Broadham, all spectators welcome. Hucclecote 10 Painswick United 9
THE United travelled to Hucclecote on Saturday and came away with a disappointing one point loss.
Despite dominating the first half all the United had to show for their efforts were three penalty goals from full-back Nick Rogers,
In the second half Hucclecote scored two tries to go in front, but the United hit back and looked as though they would gain a victory, but they had three tries disallowed.
This weekend the United open their Merit League games with an away trip to Cheltenham Sabres, kick-off 3pm.
