AN EVENING of Sacred Sound is coming to The Space in Stroud this weekend.
The high, vaulted ceiling of the old Christian Science reading rooms will be resounding to something quite different from its usual mix of young, local rock bands, films and theatre - the tranquil and powerful sacred sounds created by Yael Hochenberg and Poh-Eng San.
According to Poh-Eng San, a well-known local Buqi and Taiji Wuxigong practitioner, said: It's an evening to experience being, with the combination of ancient languages of light together with crystal and Tibetan bowls.
"We interweave the bowls with Sanskrit, Tibetan, Egyptian, Chinese and Hebrew sounds. These ancient languages have a mathematical, geometric arrangement whose vibration affects us at every level."
Yael and Poh-Eng have released two CDs of sacred sounds on Sound Technique. They were recorded at Hawkwood College and will be available on the night.
According to Yael, the event will be an opportunity to: "relax and be transported by the beautiful and healing sounds."
"People can bring a blanket," she added, "something to lie down on and just chill out. We are both based in Stroud, so we're really excited to be playing in The Space."
They will be joined on the night by by Yael's husband, Paul Lisbon, who will be accompanying them on bowls and percussion.
The show takes place on Friday, October 8 at The Space, Lansdown, Stroud at 8pm. Tickets are available on the door, priced £10.
