LEIGH ALLISS thrilled Stroud fight fans with a stunning boxing display to claim the Western Area light heavyweight title at a packed Ashton Gate stadium on Friday night, and then immediately dedicated the fight to the memory of his father, Tony Alliss.
"I'm elated and this victory is dedicated to my father."
The 29-year-old Stroud boxer saw off the challenge of Somerset's Shane White with an immaculate display of attacking boxing that forced referee Grant Wallis to stop the bout after one minute 10 seconds of the second round.
White was no match for the pugnacious Alliss who peppered his opponent with a barrage of stinging shots.
White received a standing eight count after being caught by a stinging right after 30 seconds of the second round but seconds later, a left jab and right hook sent White to the canvas again.
White beat the count but Alliss attacked again before Wallis stepped in, leaving an ecstatic Alliss to take the acclaim of the hundreds of cheering Stroud fans.
He said: "It was great to see so many fans and the noise they made was appreciated and very humbling. I can't thank them all enough and I have had lots of text messages and phone calls congratulating me.
"The whole thing has been unbelievable."
