AN APPLICATION for the redevelopment of Tricorn House in Cainscross was unanimously refused at development control today, Tuesday.
The application, by Wellfair Holdings, proposed the refurbishment of the existing building as well as the erection of extensions.
A separate four storey new building was also suggested as well as a retail unit on the ground floor of the property which would face out towards Westward Road.
The main reasons for refusal were that the design was substandard in terms of detailing, materials, form, and scale.
Planners also said it would lead to an unacceptable loss of privacy to residents in Bridge Street.
Cainscross Parish Council objected to the application as it believed the proposals would be commercially unsustainable.
Nine letters of objection were received by Stroud District Council raising concerns such as lack of parking spaces, increased congestion, and loss of light and privacy. There were no letters of support.
