TO CELEBRATE the launch of the new Stroud based recording label, Quiet Illumination, there will be a concert at Hawkwood College on Thursday, featuring sound artist Stefan Cartwright and improvising pianist, Erik Huele from Holland.
Stefan will be extemporising on themes from his debut album: Improvisations with Singing Bowls, Bells and Gongs. Gongs, bells and singing bowls are some of the oldest musical instruments. The finest examples have a sound characterised by purity of tone, deep resonance and complex harmonics.
Erik Huele will be playing original compositions on the grand piano. Erik is an internationally known musician/composer and was awarded The Henry de Wolf Jazzprize in 1986. Erik's music is intimate and reflective. There are subtle reminiscences of jazz, classical and minimal music, of Satie, Bach and African rhythm.
Stefan and Erik will be leading the improvising music workshop Being The Music at Hawkwood College in 2009. For further information visit www.resona.co.uk The event starts at 8pm, tickets £10/£6. For further information call 01453 751588 or mail@resona.co.uk Quiet illumination CDs will available to purchase on the evening.
