NAILSWORTH Design Statement was endorsed by the town council at a meeting on Tuesday, November 18.
The Design Statement is an audit of Nailsworth's existing built environment, open spaces and countryside.
Through public consultation it describes what residents most like and dislike about the town and it identifies what they wish to see in any future plans and developments proposed for Nailsworth.
Mayor Norman Kay said: "This has been a real community effort, led by Helen Bojaniwska and the Nailsworth Community Partnership. Through their efforts Nailsworth benefits from a clear overview of what we like about our town and what we feel it is important to preserve. We can be proud of what we have achieved."
The statement has now been sent to Stroud District Council for adoption.
If adopted it will be taken into account as 'material consideration' for future planning applications.
