AN URGENT appeal has been issued to find the owner of a stray dog found on Wednesday, November 19 in North Nibley.
Animal Welfare officers at Stroud District Council found the female yellow Labrador at 4pm following a report from the general public.
The dog, found in a distressed state, is aged approximately two to three years and has an old injury to her right ear and right eye.
It is particularly important the owner is traced as the dog has recently given birth to a litter of puppies and there are grave concerns for their health.
Animal Welfare Officer, Alex Davies, said: “It is vital we track down the owner of this dog as we are very concerned about the welfare of the puppies. We are urging the public to come forward and provide us with any relevant information.
“It is possible that the dog may have been stolen or dumped in this area but either way we desperately need to know where her puppies are and make sure they are well.”
The dog is currently being treated at Vale Vets in Stinchcombe, Dursley.
SDC’s Animal Welfare Officers are working with the RSPCA to trace the owner and will be putting up found posters in the North Nibley area.
Anyone with information should contact SDC on 01453 754492 or email environmental.health@stroud.gov.uk
