NAILSWORTH mayor’s chain is to be updated so all the names of the towns previous civic leaders can be fitted onto it.
The hallmarked chain was presented to the council in 1964 and currently has 22 links engraved with mayors names.
Due to only three or four spaces being left for the seven mayors of the town since 1994, the council decided at a meeting last Tuesday, November 18, to update it.
It will have two extra half chains, on the front and back, costing £1,300.
