NICHOLAS Smith was given a suspended prison sentence for driving while disqualified, at Stroud Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Smith, aged 27, of Fishers Way, Kingscourt, was caught when a police officer saw him in a red sports car on Friday, November 7.
He was later arrested at his house, where the Mitsubishi was on the driveway.
Andrew Walters, prosecuting, said: "At first he told police a friend had been driving the car.
"But when they searched the house they found car keys in his bedroom."
The court heard Smith was disqualified from driving on Wednesday, September 17 at North Somerset Magistrates' Court.
Steve Young, for the defence, said Smith had not committed another similar offence since 2004.
Smith pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and was given a four month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months.
He was ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid work and disqualified from driving for 24 months.
No costs were awarded.
