EDNA Powell, the chairman of Stroud Country Show, is recovering in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after she was involved in a collision with a car.
The accident happened on Saturday morning as Edna was walking in Back Lane, Stroud behind her shop, Cotswold Sewing Machines, in Lansdown.
The well-known grandmother broke her hip and will need a replacement.
Her daughter Louise, proprietor of Vogue hair salon in Gloucester Street, said Edna should be back to health within four weeks.
Cotswold Sewing Machines is still open, customers are welcome from 10am to 4pm.
