MARLING School parents have been reassured the suspension of headteacher Roger Lock is not related to children's welfare.
In a ‘confidential’ letter dated last Wednesday, chairman of the governors Neil Carmichael said the circumstances leading to the situation focused on an internal school management matter and did not concern pupils' welfare.
He added he hoped the letter would allay parents’ fears following the suspension on Thursday, November 6 but stressed no more details could be made public while an investigation was underway.
The letter reads: "Further to recent inappropriate and potentially misleading media speculation about Roger Lock's absence from school, I am writing to allay any unnecessary fears that you might have.
"The nature of the circumstances leading to this situation is focused on an internal school management matter and does not concern the welfare of any current or ex pupils of the school.
"Circumstances like these are difficult for everybody concerned. It is important to allow due process to take place and to ensure that speculation does not affect the fairness of that process.
"At this stage, I cannot provide further information but commit to keep you updated on the situation as appropriate and when possible to do so.
"Thank you very much for your continued support of the school."
