A TEENAGER hopes the annual Nailsworth Silver Band concert will mean a cash boost towards a once in a lifetime trip to Guatemala to help the needy.
Kerry McDougall, 16, one of the band's members from Stonehouse, is part of a team from Downfield 6th form in Stroud who will be participating in an expedition to Guatemala and Belize in conjunction with World Challenge.
The month long trip will include charity work in local villages, such as building work and teaching English in the schools.
Each member of the team has to raise £3,500 to fund the trip.
Kerry started playing the cornet 10 years ago, aged six, when she joined the junior band then conducted by Trevor Picken.
She is a dedicated member of the band and her hard work has resulted in her frequently performing solos at the bands concerts.
Kerry has been busy ironing, dog walking, and car washing to raise funds and is hoping that the concert will boost her total.
The concert is on Sunday, December 7 at Christchurch in Nailsworth starting at 6.30pm.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children including refreshments and are available from Festivities in Nailsworth, any band member, or on the door.
