GET in the swing of Goodwill Evening at the Be Inspired stall at Stroud farmers’ market on Saturday. The stall will have lantern packs and masks on sale, so you can get creative, ready to take part in the procession on Friday, December, 5. The lantern packs contain everything you need to make a lantern, including instructions and a fire fly glow stick and all proceeds from sales on the stall will go towards running Goodwill Evening next year.
On the night, Woodruffs will be serving street food and take aways plus their usual menu, and giving free mulled wine to their customers. Live music at Woodruffs will include Jade playing Celtic harp, Silver Camper Van playing acoustic folk and Dr Gonzalez who will be finishing off the evening with funky retro jazz.
Families with young children can enjoy a trail of the town and enter the window treasure hunt competition with chances to win great prizes. Just look out for the Venetian masks in the shop windows – more details next week. Businesses taking part in the treasure trail include Heritage, Moonflower, Made in Stroud, Kendrick Street Gallery, Sue Ryder, Sahara, Wilkinson’s, Confection Affection and Antics.
Woolworths, Wilkinson’s and New Look will be open and local charity and school groups will take stalls in Merrywalks. They will be joined by singers throughout the evening.
Confection Affection will be having a special chocolate fountain for the evening and many of the shops will be entering a Venetian themed Christmas window competition. The night will include choral singing by Stroud Song, Circle of Song, The Salvation Army & Churches Together Choir, Brimscombe School Choir and entertainment from Spaniel in the Works Theatre Company, Stroud Mummers, Captain Spanner and wandering jesters Waites and Measures.
