A BARBED wire fenced saved the life of a young motorist after an accident on Frocester Hill today, Friday, November 14.
The driver, a man in his mid-late 20s who did not want to be named, was travelling between Nympsfield and Frocester around 1pm when his car came off the road and was left hanging on the edge of a cliff The car, a dark grey Fiat Marea, was only stopped from tumbling into the field below by a barbed wire fence that had become wrapped around the rear of the car.
The driver, who is unhurt, managed to free himself from the vehicle and get back onto the main road before the police arrived.
Officers shut the road down and workers from a construction firm were called in to push the car off the cliff so it could be recovered from the field below.
