PROVISIONAL driver Richard Baker drove a car on his own, without insurance, crashed it while over the drink-drive limit – and then gave false details to police.
Andrew Walters, prosecuting at Stroud Magistrates' Court on Thursday, said police detected alcohol on Baker's breath after he had an accident while driving the white Nissan Micra in Nortonwood, on Monday, September 1.
Further tests revealed Baker, 18, of Lawnside, Nailsworth had 100 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – the legal limit being 80 milligrammes.
He also gave police false details telling them his name was Richard Butcher.
Leo Goatley, defending, said: "Baker says he was foolish in drinking three bottles of lager and knows he should not have been driving."
Baker pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, driving with no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence authority and willfully obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty. He was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined £150. He was ordered to pay £60 costs plus a £15 victim surcharge.
