THREE teams of young people have volunteered to put on a series of live music events at The Space arts centre.

The first of the Space Live Presents series will take place on Stroud’s Goodwill evening - December 5. The gig, taking place from 8pm-midnight will appeal to metal and rock fans alike and features local bands homegrown in Gloucestershire.

The team are being mentored by industry professionals as part of the V Project which is a funded initiative to encourage more young people to volunteer and make a difference to other young people in their community.

Headlining the night will be local favourites, four piece metal band; Broken by Daybreak. They've just finished their first UK tour and will be recording their first album in February 2009.

The Dead Lay Waiting show once more that despite their youth, and the band having only been around since June 2007, they can write some decent head nodding tunes. The band have an obvious talent, and without sounding too cliché, on the strength of these songs the band certainly have the credentials to go onto bigger things.’ - Hardrockhouse Also on the bill will be Stroud band Broken by Daydreak. They've only been around for a few months and have already played with big name local acts, This is Colour and Martyr Defiled. New to the scene these friendly lads in their first year at college are eager to get their name out there.

The V Project is enabling The Space to provide opportunities for young talent in the area to not only perform at events but also to put on events.
