THE FAMILY of a ten-year-old rising star from Bussage who has capped off a phenomenal debut season in outdoor karting have spoken of their pride. 

Freddie Turner earnt the title of 2024 Global Karting Cadet Light vice champion with an impressive P2 in the overall standings.

Competing in a thrilling nine-round championship held at tracks across the UK, Freddie showcased exceptional skill and determination.

His stellar season included two wins, four second places, two third places and a fifth place. 

Silverstone, the iconic home of British motorsport, was a fitting stage for Freddie to receive his trophy. ]

He was presented the award by two motorsport legends: Rob Smedley, CEO of Global Karting and former Formula 1 race engineer, and Ferri Porsche, the great-grandson of automotive pioneer Ferdinand Porsche.

Freddie’s proud father reflected on his achievements. 

He said: “All the family are all incredibly proud of Freddie and what he’s achieved this season.

"It’s been an amazing experience, not only for the racing but also for the incredible friendships he’s built with fellow racers from across the country."

Freddie’s outstanding performances have also caught the attention of top local teams.

He has been invited to join the Stalloni Camponi Racing (SCR) Team as part of their prestigious driver development programme.

Team owner Zack Swannell expressed his excitement, saying: "We’re thrilled to have Freddie joining SCR.

"He’s a gifted young driver who has already proven himself a race winner on both indoor and outdoor circuits.

"We’re excited to see him take on new challenges like the Daniel Ricciardo Series and SRK."

As the 2024 season draws to a close, Freddie is already gearing up for the next phase of his karting career.

However, he’ll need support to continue chasing his dreams.
