A 70-YEAR-OLD Stroud actress has spoken of the role she has played in a movie littered with world famous stars.
The new Paddington film features star-studded actors including Julie Walters, Hugh Bonneville, Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman and more.
Susan Cambridge, born and bred in Stroud, plays Julie Walters’ double and stand-in and said she was sometimes on set for up to 12 hours a day.
The actress –currently based between Stonehouse, Birmingham and London for work and who was born in Stroud Hospital – has spoken of the experience of being on set around some of the country’s most-loved stars.
She said: “It was an amazing experience.
“I had work with and relax backstage with the main cast ...Olivia Colman, Hugh Bonneville, Antonio Banderas and more A-listers.
“I’m sure people might like to know that someone from Stroud played a big part in making this epic film happen.
“I had been Julie's double in Channel 4 TV Drama True Love where I worked alongside Peter Eagan, Sue Johnson, Phil Davis and other A-listers.
“Apparently I was so like Dame Julie Walters that people were stopping me in the street asking me for selfies, it’s very surreal.”
This is not the first foray into fame for Susan who opened her first dance school, the Sue Cambridge School of Dancing in Stonehouse with six pupils and it soon increased to 300.
She had five branches in and around Gloucestershire in no time, as well as opening the Stroud Dance and Fitness Centre in Lansdown plus Bodyworks Dance and Fitness Centre in London Road.
Susan has also worked on Casualty, other TV series including on ITV and Netflix, as well as in music videos for the likes of Rag'n'Bone Man, Duran Duran and Katherine Jenkins.
A trailer for the third in the series of Paddington films, with This Is Going To Hurt actor Ben Whishaw in the lead role as the voice of the bear, shows Olivia Colman as the guitar-playing Reverend Mother trying to help the fictional animal character find his Aunt Lucy in the Amazon rainforest.
The 2024 movie sees the Brown family and Paddington, who live together in London, travel to the South American country so the cartoon bear can visit Lucy, voiced by The Crown star Imelda Staunton.
