A MAJOR road in the area was closed last night after a tanker overturned.
National Highways for the South West posted on social media on Wednesday, November 20 that the A419 in Cirencester was closed southbound between the A417 and the A429.
A tanker had left the road and overturned earlier that evening.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, and the road has since reopened.
National Highways for the South West said that the stretch of the A419 was closed to recover the tanker.
The A417 was also closed between ‘Quarry’ and Burford Road last night.
At around 12am today, Thursday, November 21, National Highways for the South West posted on social media that the A419 in Cirencester was closed southbound between the A417 and the A429 for ‘a planned overnight closure’.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire police said: “We were called following a report that a vehicle had left the A419 near Cirencester and overturned at around 16.50 yesterday (Wednesday, November 20).
“A partial closure was put in place on the A419 southbound carriageway between Cirencester and Cerney Wick and was lifted later that evening.
“The driver did not sustain any injuries.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for National Highways said: “We were made aware of a tanker that had left the carriageway at 18.04.
“The road was fully closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle and reopened at 23.30.”
