A CANNABIS farm has been uncovered and a man has been arrested after a fire at an industrial estate in Tetbury.

Firefighters have been dealing with the blaze at a building in Tetbury Industrial Estate since around 12.40pm this afternoon, Friday, November 15. 

Plumes of smoke were seen drifting off the site and led to a closure along Cirencester Road - which has now reopened.

Gloucestershire Police say three men were seen running from the scene, and one of them was detained nearby.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs manufacture/the production of a class B drug, namely cannabis.

Meanwhile, searches have been ongoing to locate two other men across farmland, with support from the force's dog unit and the National Police Air Service.

However, so far no-one else has been located.

Gloucestershire Police say the two men are said to be aged in their 20s or 30s. 

According to officers, one man was wearing a black hooded top and grey jogging bottoms and the other man was wearing black shorts and a red hooded top.

A police spokesperson said: "The fire service extinguished the fire, however a police scene guard will remain in place overnight after extensive damage has been caused and the building is unsafe.

"Road closures had been put in place but these have since been removed."

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said nine fire engines were sent to the scene from Nailsworth, Stroud, Cirencester, Wotton-under-Edge, Cheltenham West, Gloucester South and Fairford. 

An additional two fire engines were also sent from Dorset and Wiltshire.

Crews used an aerial ladder platform, two jets and four breathing apparatus to fight the fire.
