A MUCH-LOVED sports club in the area has applied for a new licence amid its ongoing expansion.
The club - which has acquired more land, facilities and members over the last few years - has applied for an amendment to their alcohol licence to cover these new areas.
The Rugby club - based at The Avenue in Stinchcombe - also hosts Stinchcombe Stragglers cricket while Dursley Running club is an affiliated club.
A document - explaining the application - read: "This additional land has allowed the club to grow its offering of community events such as schools rugby and schools cross country.
"The club has also recently begun hosting Dursley Rocks (under tens).
"The number of rugby sections has also grown for example Ladies, Touch Rugby, Walking Rugby and a thriving mini and youth section.
"There is a clubhouse consisting of a players lounge, bar, hall with dance area and a kitchen and a separate building housing the changing rooms, stores and first aid.
"With the expansion of the club's land, facilities and membership, the club are looking to extend the plan boundary of our certificate and request inclusion of all areas within the boundary for licensable activities and that alcohol can be sold or supplied and consumed in all areas within the boundary.
"This would allow sales and supply from pop-up, mobile or occasional bars at the different pitch sides or for social activities such as BBQs."
These new areas include the clubhouse pitch, cricket pitch, training ground, a new pitch as well as the top pitch.
A spokesperson for the club said: "This application will make sure that we have the correct licence in place to support sports and community events at Dursley Rugby Club.
"The application covers activity throughout the rugby, cricket and athletics seasons and puts in place clear finishing times for outside events, to protect local residents.
"The rugby club is an important community facility used by many local people."
Representations can be made in writing to the Licensing Section until Friday, November 29.
