A FORMER car dealership has been transformed into a charity shop.
Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home has opened a charity shop at the former site of Thompson First MG, based in London Road, Bowbridge.
The car dealership, which also provided MOT tests and other services, had been based at the location in one guise or another since 1972 - over 50 years.
The ribbon was cut at 10am on Friday, November 8 by ITV West Country presenter Alex Lovell.
A spokesperson for the charity said: "The shop offers a range of high-quality, pre-loved items, from clothing and accessories to home goods, furniture and books, with all proceeds funding the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of vulnerable animals in the region."
Kirstin Maycock, retail operations manager, said: "We’re so pleased to open our eight charity shop, which will allow us to make an even greater impact in the community.
"Every purchase made here supports the animals in our care, providing them with the resources they need for a second chance at a brighter future.
"We’re looking forward to this shop becoming a valued part of Stroud and creating a welcoming space where locals can support animal welfare in a meaningful way.
"The need for additional support is more pressing than ever, with a growing number of animals requiring rescuing and care.
"The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home hopes that the new shop will not only raise vital funds but also raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare."
