A MAN from South Wales is due to appear in court tomorrow (Wednesday) after being charged with rape and other offences against three women.

Samuel Rust, aged 22 and previously of Boverton, Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan faces more than 30 counts in total which include rape, intentional strangulation and sexual assaults.

Following an investigation by Gloucestershire Constabulary's Criminal Investigation Department, Rust was charged with several offences in May this year. He was remanded in custody, with a trial date set for 9 December this year.

The Crown Prosecution Service has since authorised seven further charges against Rust and he is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Wednesday 6 November, in relation to these.

The seven new charges are:

  • Rape
  • Two counts of sexual assault
  • Two counts of intentional strangulation
  • Assault by penetration
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm

The previous charges include rape, intentional strangulation and sexual assault.

The offences are alleged to have happened in Gloucestershire and South Wales.
