COLUMN by Stroud Town Council CEO Helen Bojaniwska
After lots of work with our architects, surveyors and contractors, and consultation with planners at Stroud District Council, our plans for Locking Hill are moving forward nicely.
The first stage will involve creating storage space for our machinery and waste, so the Green Spaces team should be in by the new year.
Their workshop area inside the building is very nearly ready too.
Council will be signing off plans for the upper floor meeting spaces and offices before Christmas, so that work can begin in the Spring.
Sadly the Town Centre has been plastered with illegal flyposting again this week.
Event organisers really do need to understand that sticking posters on shop windows and street furniture is illegal and could result in a big fine.
Town Council and Stroud District Council staff have far more productive things to do than cleaning them up. To help out we have put a list and an interactive map on our website of places where posters can be displayed legally. https://www.stroudtown.gov.uk/poster-advertising
We have also been busy reviewing our 5-year strategy, to make sure that we are prioritising projects that are important to Stroud residents.
There will be an opportunity to let us know what you think of our plans very soon.
Finally, a reminder that this year’s Remembrance Day Service, will be held at Park Gardens, on Sunday November 10 from 10.45am.
The event will be preceded by a church service at 9.30am at St Laurence Church followed by refreshments at the church hall.
