THE skies over Stroud once again exploded with light all in aid of good causes.

Hundreds of visitors attended the fireworks display at Marling School Playing Fields on Monday, October 28.

The annual Five Valleys Fireworks event - also known as the Ebley Fireworks - has been taking place every year for decades.

It has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes across the district over the years, with over a quarter of million pounds raised in the last 25 years.

Organisers say it is the largest professional firework display choreographed to music in the 5 Valleys and beyond.

The event takes nine months to organise and arrange plus costs of more than £22,000 to stage - the 20-minute firework display and sound system alone cost over £12,500.
