A FAMILY-RUN bakery is celebrating another achievement following success at the National Bakery Awards.
Bakery on the Water won Bakery of the Year in the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2024.
The win came soon after the Bourton-on-the-Water bakery won a National Bakery Award for the county of Gloucestershire.
The Cotswold Life awards recognised and celebrated the outstanding contributions of the food and drink industry.
Bakery on the Water offers fresh bread, pastries, cakes and savoury products, with daily specials including quiches, soups, homemade granola and sandwiches.
It has an on-site cafe and a riverside terrace, and it also provides made-to-order celebration cakes and delivers wholesale to several local businesses.
Bakery on the Water’s new owners, Alex Clavel and Narda Franco, acquired The Little Bakery Company - which has bakeries in Bourton as well as Burford in Oxfordshire (Bakery on the Hill) - just over a year ago.
Since taking over, they have achieved double-digit growth by focusing on quality, operational efficiency and local ingredients.
Alex and Narda were thrilled to receive the Cotswold Life accolade, following up on the National Bakery Awards just five days before.
“We are delighted to have been recognised for our commitment to giving the people of the Cotswolds an exceptional product fitting of the beautiful area,” Alex said.
“We are both passionate about what we do, so to be honoured in this way is amazing.
“We have lots of ideas for the business and look forward to continuing to grow, providing our high-quality products to our customers.”
