A MAJOR UPDATE has been issued tonight on the sauna and steam room at the Stratford Park Leisure Centre.
Stroud District Council takeover the leisure centre on November with a week-long closure starting from Friday, November 1 to carry out essential works.
As part of this it had been mentioned that the health suite (steam and sauna room) was to close for an extended period
However it has emerged tonight that the health suite will reopen on November 9.
Speaking at the council meeting, Stroud District Council leader Catherine Braun said: "I know many of you have received communications regarding the health suite.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to make the position clear.
"The health suite will not be in use during the week's closure but it will reopen on the 9th of November.
"The original plan was for the health suite - as well as other parts of the building - to remain close beyond the 9th of November.
"But informed feedback from users we have taken the decision to continue the health suite's operation while we continue to review all the facilities at the centre.
"Thank you to everybody who has contacted me and contacted other members to explain how important those facilities are to them.
"I'm really pleased we can listen to them and make sure this service will be ongoing."
