A BROKEN down train near Stroud has caused services to be cancelled and delayed this morning.

Services between Cheltenham Spa and London Paddington were affected by the blockage at around 7am today, Thursday, October 24.

A notice on the National Rail says a freight train came to a stop and blocked the line between Stroud and Kemble.

It reads: “A freight train has a mechanical issue meaning it has had to come to a stop between Stroud and Kemble.

“A rescue train will be required in order to get the train moving.”

It comes as a similar incident happened on the line last month on September 26.

It is understood disruption is expected until 10.30am.
