THREE boys, two aged just 12, have been arrested in connection with a series of moped and bicycle thefts across the town.

Police were called at around 3am this morning (Friday, October 18) after reports that a group had been seen acting suspiciously and pushing a moped down the road in St Mark’s, Gloucestershire Police said.

At around 4.50am, another call came in reporting that a similar group had attempted to steal a bicycle from the High Street.

Officers conducted searches in the area and three boys were stopped nearby as they matched descriptions given by the caller.

The boys were found to be in possession of bicycles which were believed to have been stolen so they were subsequently arrested.

Two 12-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft of mopeds, attempted theft of bicycles and criminal damage.

Officers have identified the owner of the seized moped and are now working to identify the rightful owners of the bicycles seized during the arrests.
