I'm not sure which buffoon came up with the notion that stencilling "Bin your Gum" on the streets of the town would improve gum disposal amongst the chewing population.
It's blatantly obvious to those of us who work in town that this total waste of public money would have been better spent actually providing bins!
Every town and city has responded to the squeeze on public finances in the last decade by reducing the numbers of town centre bins available, thus increasing the likelihood of gum ending up on the pavement.
