FLORA Ekli has brought her love of baking from Hungary to the streets of Nailsworth.
She opened Happy Cinnamon Bakery on Market Street in Nailsworth two months ago.
"The community is really nice here in Nailsworth, it is looking very promising," said Flora.
"Originally from Hungary, I started this bakery alongside my mum and stepdad.
"Our journey into baking has deep roots in our family, beginning when I had stomach problems as a child.
"My mum discovered that sourdough bread was good for the gut, and we started baking at home.
"This passion grew, leading my parents to attend baking school and open a micro bakery in Budapest.
"As my brother and I now live abroad, they decided to move closer to us, and this led to the birth of Happy Cinnamon Bakery here in Nailsworth.
"We're using cherished recipes passed down from our grandmothers, and we only sell baked goods that we truly love.
"We're not just about cinnamon buns (though they’ve made us "popular")—we offer a wide range of baked goods, both sweet and savory.
"From country loaves and porridge sourdough to galettes, mini babkas, cookies, pretzels, focaccia sandwiches, and even Saturday specials like chimney cakes, we've got you covered.
"We're also passionate about supporting our community. We proudly display local artists' works on our walls and feature local produce on our retail shelves.
"We believe in helping each other grow and creating space for everyone in the community to thrive."
Why "Happy Cinnamon"?
"While the name may seem inspired by the warm, comforting feeling of a fresh cinnamon bun, the truth is a little more personal," said Flora.
"My partner and I went through a phase of being big fans of the musician Gerry Cinnamon, and his music brought us so much joy.
"One day, we started playing around with words, and "Happy Cinnamon" was born!
"All of our breads are made using traditional sourdough methods with a 107-year-old starter from Italy."
