POLICE have provided an update following yesterday's dramatic scene in a busy car park when officers swooped on a suspect who appeared to be on the run.
It began at 10.45am yesterday when shouts could be heard in London Road car park.
A police car could be seen in the car park while an officer was seen chasing a male suspect who appeared to be aged around 40 in tracksuit trousers, trainers and a grey top.
A male was then seen in handcuffs by the police vehicle and appeared to be calm.
A large police van then turned and five uniformed officers appeared to be dealing with the situation and eventually a man was led into the back of the vehicle which left the scene around 11.20am.
A police statement read: "Police arrested a man on Castle Rise, Stroud, yesterday morning (Tuesday, September 24) on suspicion of failing to stop, possession of a Class A drug and supply of a Class A drug.
"A 35-year-old man of no fixed address was released on bail while enquiries continue."
