A MAN was arrested following a report of an altercation at a football match at a pitch belonging to a school.

Police were called to a report that a man had been threatened with a knife in Gloucester on Tuesday, September 17.

A 30-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

An altercation had reportedly taken place during a football match at a pitch belonging to St Peter’s High School in Tuffley at around 9.30pm.

The game was a private letting by members of the public and was unrelated to the school itself.

A man playing in the match was said to have punched another man before threatening him with a knife.

The suspect then got into a car and left the scene before officers arrived.
