AN EMERGENCY road closure was in place in a key road near Cirencester at lunchtime today (Thursday, September 19).

Gloucestershire County Council’s Highways team had said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the A435 at Coberley and the Seven Springs roundabout was closed.

This was due to a bus which was stuck and blocking the road.

The A435 from Seven Springs roundabout to Cockleford junction has since reopened.

The team said that while a tow truck was on-site, the recovery was not straightforward.

It advised people to avoid the area if possible.

In a separate post on X, the highways team said there would be a hard closure from Seven Springs roundabout to the Cockleford junction on the A435.

“The A435 will remain closed through to the A417 junction at Cirencester,” a spokesperson for the department said.
