OVER 100 people participated in a community tournament which raised £700 for a local tennis and pickleball group.
The rounders event, which was organised by Chalford Tennis & Pickleball Club, took place at The Chalford Sports & Social Club in France Lynch on Sunday, September 8.
Eight teams played in a round-robin format, and the winning team was Minnican’s Munchkins.
Chalford Tennis & Pickleball Club is looking to raise £30,000 to replace its tennis hut with a new pavilion.
“The club hut and the access hasn't been upgraded in 23 years, and sadly, neither are fit for purpose by today’s standards,” said spokesperson Nicola Keller.
The group wants to build or buy an insulated, modern pavilion with integrated storage, make the access to the tennis courts wheelchair and buggy-friendly, offer an all-weather outdoor seating area next to the pavilion and update and replace the electrics.
