COMMUNITY spirit shone amid the makeover of a primary school car park.
The parking facility at Croft School in Painswick has been resurfaced and features new edging kerbs and wooden posts.
Funding for the new car park was secured by Gifford Morris, a former Croft pupil and assistant contracts manager for surfacing and manufacturing company Eurovia.
“It has made a massive difference to the school community,” said Giff, who was also involved in delivering the project.
“The parents and children are overwhelmed with the result.”
Work on the car park took place in July.
Material for the project was secured by Mel Buswell and Ben Chase from Tarmac.
Iain Fowler and Matthew Pearce from Ringway supplied the operatives and materials to complete the civil work, installing new edging kerbs, bespoke wooden posts and topsoil and seed.
The surfacing team, meanwhile, was made up of Jim, Scott, Shaun, Adam, Ian, Graham and Rich.
Giff, whose three children also attended Croft School, said: “The school struggles with funding, as do most.
“It supports its funds with various charity projects, such as Easter trails, elf hunts, ice cream sales, second-hand uniform sales and occasions where the children do sponsorships.
“All of the funding helps to keep the school grounds running, but despite its efforts, there are still lots of defects that need desperate attention.
“One of them was the dilapidated car park that was the same car park from when I was there 30 years ago.
“We were blessed with blue skies and true teamwork and surrounded with community spirit on installation day.”
