A POPULAR pub in Stroud was taken over by a host of four-legged friends at the weekend.

The Crown & Sceptre in Horns Road invited individuals to bring their funny, clever, scruffy, handsome and pretty pooches to its dog show on Sunday, September 1.

Classes included handsomest dog, prettiest female dog and best scruffy dog, as well as best veteran, best trick and best young handler.

There was also an agility round, a catch the biscuit competition and a class for the dog the judges wanted to take home.

All winners were additionally able to enter to be named best in show.
