MORE information has been revealed after fire crews tackled a blaze at a Stroud pub last night, Wednesday.

Smoke was seen billowing from the garden area of the Market Tavern in Union Street.

At around 6.15pm police also shut access to Cornhill at the London Road junction.

More information has since been released from the fire and rescue department, managed by Gloucestershire County Council

They said that the call was made to the fire service at 5.54pm with four engines attending.

The majority of the fire damage was in a single storey extension of the three-storey derelict building.

There were no casualties with the final fire engine leaving at 8.33pm.

The Market Tavern has been vacant for several years and the building is unoccupied.

For many years the pub was the legendary Stroud venue the Pelican.
