A TV veteran is due to visit a historic landmark in the area as part of a dazzling Strictly Come Dancing event. 

Celebrated journalist Angela Rippon is due to attend the launch of a new Strictly costume exhibition at Berkeley Castle on Saturday, August 31.

The display will showcase stunning costumes from the 2023 BBC show which Angela appeared on with dancing partner Kai Widdrington. 

Rippon, aged 79, became the series' oldest contestant when she came on board. 

She made it all the week to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom special before being eliminated following a dance-off with actor Bobby Brazier.

An organiser said: “Join us for an unforgettable celebration of dance, fashion, and history at Berkeley Castle's Strictly Come Dancing costume exhibition!

“Guests at the launch party will be treated to an evening of elegance with fizz and canapés, live music, and the exclusive opportunity to talk to Angela Rippon about her remarkable experience on Strictly Come Dancing. 

“This glamorous event promises to be a memorable evening celebrating the glitz and glamour of one of the UK's most beloved TV shows.”

Rippon, who presents Rip-Off Britain, was the first female journalist to permanently present the BBC national news.

She was also one of the presenters of the BBC's original Come Dancing series.

She hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in London in 1977, presented the ITV breakfast show TV-am and famously appeared in a sketch with comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.

The organiser added: “These dazzling outfits, worn by the stars of the 2023 series, highlight the intricate design, craftsmanship, and creativity that have become synonymous with the show.”

The launch party will take place from 6pm to 9pm.
