A POPULAR festival in the area has been cancelled for 2024.
Witcombe Festival in Brockworth Road near Gloucester was due to feature acts including Razorlight, Example and Professor Green over the August bank holiday weekend.
However, an official statement released by the festival on Monday, August 5 explained that the 2024 event from August 23 to 25 would not take place.
“Unfortunately, the ongoing cost-of-living crisis has significantly impacted our ticket sales and overall planning,” the statement said.
“This year, according to the Association of Independent Festivals, 53 festivals have had to cancel.
“Despite our best efforts and creativity, including plans to reduce capacity and the size of the festival site, these have not been possible due to strict licensing conditions.
“We have always prided ourselves on delivering an unforgettable experience for our festivalgoers, and we believe that cancelling the event is the most responsible course of action to ensure we can return stronger in the future.”
The festival added that it is “committed to returning with an even more spectacular event”.
According to the statement, ticket-holders for the event will “receive a face-value refund back to the card they paid with”.
However, the statement noted: “As per TicketsSellers terms and conditions, booking fees cover TicketSellers processing and platform costs of your ticket purchase and TicketSellers staff and admin costs to organise your refund and as such are non refundable.”
