A MAN has been fined and banned from driving for speeding on a motorway.

William Lowe, aged 28, from Duntisbourne Abbots near Cirencester, was caught at 66mph in a 50mph zone on the M5 northbound at junction 16 for Almondsbury on December 9 last year.

This contravened a temporary speed restriction set by South Gloucestershire Council.

Lowe pleaded guilty to the offence under the single justice procedure on June 5 at Bath Magistrates Court.

He was fined £384 with a £154 surcharge plus £110 in costs - a total of nearly £650 - and was banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending.
